The commendation of Christian Science implied in a letter to the editor, published in the Post, is appreciated, but the correspondent was mistaken in his statement that Christian Science "found its roots" in an Oriental philosophy.

On the contrary, Christian Science is based on the teachings of the Bible. Mary Baker Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, was a profound student of the Scriptures. While suffering from the effects of an accident thought to be fatal, she turned to the Gospel of Matthew and through an illumined sense of the divine power underlying Jesus' healing work she was healed of her injuries. Continuing her Scriptural study in the light that had thus been revealed to her, she wrote the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," and founded the Christian Science church.

Christian Science accepts without reservation all the words and works of Christ Jesus and heals sickness, sin, and other discords by the spiritual method the Master employed.
