The Open Door

Are all the doors about thee closed
By sickness, fear, or care?
Through lack of opportunity,
Or loads too great to bear?
Rejoice! 'Tis time to prove untrue
The senses' clamorous din;
Turn from the strain and stress without—
Thy Saviour is within!

Reach forth thy hand in trust, though doubt
And fear becloud the hour;
In wounds, however deeply seared,
Feel Christ, Truth's healing power,
The Word that stills all error's claims
With tenderness and might,
Bringing, where darkness seemed to reign,
An all-revealing light.

See Life, expressed in changeless good,
Unfolding constantly
The grandeur of His purpose great
That He has planned for thee.
God formed thee to reflect Himself
Throughout eternity;
Hence, as His likeness thou dost know
Naught else but harmony.

Hear Love declare: I have before
Thee set an open door,
Which none can shut. Go in and out,
In freedom evermore.
And even wasted years shall be
In fullness all restored,
When we acknowledge Truth, Life, Love,
Our only God and Lord.
