On page 1 of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures"...

On page 1 of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" Mrs. Eddy tells us, "The prayer that reforms the sinner and heals the sick is an absolute faith that all things are possible to God,—a spiritual understanding of Him, an unselfed love." Since I became an earnest student of Christian Science three years ago, I have never had any doubt that these words are true.

Recently a sacroiliac difficulty appeared suddenly. I read all day, endeavoring to know the truth, but when the sense of bondage continued I called a practitioner, who lovingly took up the work. Throughout this testing time much spiritual unfoldment took place, for which I am grateful.

A loved one was deeply concerned over my condition, especially when suggestions were made that I should have osteopathic treatments, and get into some kind of brace. About the middle of the week he expressed his fears to me, and I am grateful that I was guided to turn to page 181 of Science and Health and read to him what Mrs. Eddy says about manipulation; then I added, "We can know that we are using the strongest support in the universe, that of Truth." I called the practitioner about this, and when we had finished talking I felt for the first time that I had been unshackled, although the physical healing was not immediately manifested.
