Gratitude for the miraculous healing of my son prompts...
Gratitude for the miraculous healing of my son prompts me to write this testimony. Although I had studied Christian Science for several years, when my son became suddenly ill with appendicitis I sent for a doctor, who ordered him to a hospital immediately. The operation was performed (the appendix has ruptured), and although the condition was a very serious one, he pulled through. For a time he seemed to be getting along nicely; then complications arose. After he had been in the hospital eight weeks, the doctor told me that my son was losing ground, and he seemed to have grave doubts of the boy's recovery. Transfusion seemed the only recourse.
My son had attended the Christian Science Sunday School when he was small, and had never had medical attention before. I had had some Christian Science help for him during this time. He begged me to take him home and have a practitioner help him. This I decided to do. I consulted the practitioner again to know how to proceed. She told me of a Christian Science nurse whom I could get to attend to his physical needs, as the incision was in a terrible condition. I had him taken by ambulance to my daughter's house, which is only a few blocks from the hospital.
The doctors said he could not stand being moved, but from that time on he began to improve. In two days there was a wonderful improvement in the bowel condition. The third day he sat up, the fourth he arose and walked through three rooms, and in two weeks he was able to go home, healed. I am most grateful for this physical healing, and also for the spiritual development and interest in Christian Science which this experience brought to him. A few months later he passed a civil service physical examination with an A-1 rating.
