I desire to express sincere gratitude for all the Christian Science...
I desire to express sincere gratitude for all the Christian Science periodicals, especially for The Christian Science Monitor. It was through reading some of the Christian Science articles on the Home Forum page of the Monitor that I was led to make inquiry about the religion which provides such daily inspiration in its newspaper.
The discovery of The Christian Science Monitor was an important, progressive step in my experience. For over three years, while resident in the United States of America, the Monitor was available for me to read. But I was so prejudiced against what I thought Christian Science to be that I declined to peruse it. However, on my arrival in India, one of the first things to greet me away up here in the Himalayas was the Monitor. This time I read it. Inquiry as to who subscribed for it led me to a loyal student of Christian Science, to whom I shall ever be grateful. This student lent me a copy of the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy.
I had not read the textbook very long before chronic constipation and indigestion, for which material remedies had been used in vain for over twenty years, were completely healed.
Our infant son passed on with dysentery, for, despite the healing just mentioned, we were not ready to put full trust in Christian Science and its help was not sought on his behalf. The day after he passed on our young daughter showed signs of the same disease. We were now ready to trust Christian Science, and with the help of a Christian Science practitioner she was instantaneously healed.
At exactly the same age as our first son when he passed on, our second son became ill with a severe ear trouble. He was removed to the hospital of the institution where I am employed. My wife and I resolved that if an operation was suggested we would not permit it, for we were knowing that the operation of divine Love was all he needed. A Christian Science practitioner was called at once. The day after his admission to the hospital, the doctors pronounced him seriously ill, and said that nothing more could be done for him. I again telephoned to the practitioner, three hundred and fifty miles away, and that night our son was healed. Predictions about the ear taking a long time to heal and his hearing being affected proved false. The healing was complete. How can we ever thank the loyal practitioners who so lovingly help us in our times of great need?
I am grateful for membership in The Mother Church and for our church organization and activities which enable our small group of students to enjoy the full privileges and fruits of church services, even though we are three hundred and fifty miles from the nearest branch of The Mother Church.
These only begin to mention the many blessings which Christian Science has brought to me and mine. But the blessing for which I am most grateful is the revelation which Christian Science has given me of God as ever-present Life and Love. The Christian Science periodicals, including the Monitor, bring a steady flow of healing messages, guidance, and encouragement, and for these I am most grateful. My earnest desire is that my life may express true gratitude to God, to Christ Jesus, and to Mrs. Eddy in bringing this healing Science to the knowledge and experience of others, that they may be blessed. as I have been blessed.
Hugh C. Kelly, Kalimpong, Bengal, India.
I gladly verify my husband's testimony.
The harmonious births of our three children have proved to me beyond question that with the understanding which Christian Science gives of God's law, this experience holds only joy for the mother and pain has no place in it.
We have experienced many other healings for which we are grateful. The nurse who attended our infant son, and who knew wherein we had put our trust, said to me later, "Medically speaking, it is a miracle you have him today."
To our Way-shower, Christ Jesus, who so perfectly demonstrated Truth, and to our Leader, Mrs. Eddy, who awakened the world to the realization that Truth is eternal, and therefore applicable to the healing of all discord, we owe a debt of gratitude that only holy living can attest.
I also gratefully acknowledge the strength and inspiration given by the Christian Science periodicals. I pray that my membership in The Mother Church may enable me to be truly active in helping others as I have been helped by the understanding that God is indeed the only presence and power.—(Mrs.) Alfreda E. Kelly.
