In a recent issue a clergyman expresses his regret that the sacrament of extreme unction has been "in abeyance since the Reformation (and so given rise to Christian Science)."

It would be difficult to justify this apparent assumption that Christian Science has arisen because the sacrament of extreme unction has been dropped.

The healing power of Christian Science is that which was promised by our Lord, when he said, "These signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils: they shall speak with new tongues; they shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover." It is employed in obedience to the Master's command. "Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils."
