I wish to express my gratitude for the many healings...

I wish to express my gratitude for the many healings experienced by my family and me, extending over a period of twenty years.

Our small daughter, then eight years old, became ill and was suffering a great deal of pain. Work was taken up by a practitioner, yet the trouble did not yield, and the child grew worse. She could not walk, her body was crooked, her neck stiff, and she could not bear to be touched. There was much opposition to meet from relatives and neighbors who were not Scientists, and who declared that the child would be a cripple. To quiet the fear of a member of the family, we consented to have an examination by a physician, who diagnosed the case as misplaced vertebra and curvature of the spine. He said that with a course of treatment he thought he would be able to cure her, but it would take a long time. I thanked him, and told him we were students of Christian Science and would continue our treatment. He replied, "Christian Science will never heal that."

I reported this to the practitioner, and she went on with the work. I took the child to the mountains to spend our vacation with a relative, as had been our habit each year, and in less than two weeks' time she was climbing the hills and running down the mountains. In a short time her neck and body straightened, and she was normal in posture. This child has taken all the work in gymnasium which the school requires, made her "letter" in volley ball, has taken tap dancing, is learning to swim, and is a very graceful ballroom dancer. A more active child it would be hard to find. She is now fourteen years old and attends high school. I shall never cease to be grateful for this healing, for at times the world seemed very dark.
