Christ Jesus said, "Come unto me, all ye that labour...

Christ Jesus said, "Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest." In gratitude and praise to God I wish to write this testimony in hope that someone weary and heavy-laden may find rest and comfort such as I have found through the study and teachings of the Bible and the Christian Science textbook, Science and Health by Mary Baker Eddy.

I have been an earnest student of Christian Science for the last seventeen or eighteen years. I did not take up this study for any physical healing, but because I found it a very helpful and practical teaching, which could be applied anywhere and for any problem. During these years Christian Science has never failed me when applied with the right desire and a correct understanding of God and His perfect kingdom. Many discordant and unhappy conditions in our home have been healed, and health and harmony restored. I can truthfully say I am today a better woman, physically, mentally, and spiritually, through having gained a better understanding of God as Father-Mother, of my relationship to Him, and of my fellow men as reflecting the one Father-Mother God. This has given me a more peaceful, happy, and harmonious outlook on life.

Before taking up this teaching, in fact, from childhood, I had always suffered from chest and stomach trouble. Fear of climatic conditions kept me sick and unhappy for years. My one wish was to go to a higher altitude, and the doctor told me I should be better for the change. But with earnest and prayerful daily study of the Lesson-Sermon in the Christian Science Quarterly, and the loving help of practitioners from time to time, together with the benefits from membership in The Mother Church and in a branch church, this difficulty has been overcome, and I can never cease to be grateful. I also suffered for a time from heart attacks, which occasionally were very distressing. They always came on at night when I had just fallen asleep, and I had to get immediate help, for I felt too ill to help myself. The last time help was given, I asked my husband to telephone to the practitioner, who asked what the trouble was, and I said, "Heart attack." This was the first time I had mentioned the name of the difficulty, since I had never known the nature of these attacks. I fell asleep after loving help was given, and woke up with these words ringing in my ears: "There is no heart attack." That was the last time I ever had help for this belief. Nervous trouble, from which I had suffered for some years, has also completely left me. The doctor had told me I could never work again, because every organ of the body was affected, and I could neither eat, sleep, nor work properly.
