Deepest gratitude for the blessings of Christian Science...

Deepest gratitude for the blessings of Christian Science has filled my heart for many years. As a child I wondered what was the purpose of life, and had a great desire to be and to do good. I had read much on various philosophies and religions, and found a glimpse of Truth here and there, yet nothing thoroughly satisfying. In 1915, when a copy of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy was presented to me by a very dear friend, I read it spasmodically and in a critical manner. Little by little, however, the beautiful import of this great message dawned upon my thought, and its healing and regenerating power was proved in demonstrations physical, mental, and spiritual.

How grateful I am for having had the opportunity of serving on the staff of our great newspaper, The Christian Science Monitor, also for the privilege of serving as First Reader of a Christian Science Society, and of serving in the same capacity for three years in prison services! I am grateful also for the privilege of serving in Sunday school work, and as an usher; for class instruction with a consecrated teacher; for various healings, with and without the help of a practitioner, including those of constipation, the smoking habit, the need of glasses, blood poisoning, and pleural pneumonia.

Particularly am I grateful for the uncovering of a belief of quick temper, dominating personality, and false pride, and I am endeavoring to banish these from consciousness by manifesting more patience, love, gratitude, joy, meekness, and purity.
