Our Inheritance

There is a love of Love that we must each
Strive to reflect, that we may emulate
The works of him who mastered sin and hate,
Sickness and fear—our Lord, who came to teach
God's perfect love, putting within our reach
The power to conquer. This love soon or late
Must fill our hearts, then shall we bring that state
Of heaven here for which we God beseech.
God's children we, joint-heirs with Christ; and so
We have that power of Love, and Truth, and Mind
Which Jesus used to succor all mankind.
If we but mortal error overthrow
And cling to God, then we shall surely find
Earth's mists have vanished, and heaven's radiance know.
