Progressive Enterprise

In his article "Taps of T.N.T.," as given in the Progressive Enterprise of November 20, a contributor links suggestion and will power with Christian Science healing. Space is respectfully requested for a correction.

On page 144 of the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," Mary Baker Eddy writes: "Human will-power is not Science. Human will belongs to the so-called material senses, and its use is to be condemned. Willing the sick to recover is not the metaphysical practice of Christian Science, but is sheer animal magnetism. Human will-power may infringe the rights of man. It produces evil continually, and is not a factor in the realism of being. Truth, and not corporeal will, is the divine power which says to disease, 'Peace, be still.'"

Healings accomplishes through the application of Christian Science do not result from the use of will power or suggestion, but through the spiritual understanding of divine Mind, God, and of man's relationship to Him. Christian Science could never "will" death.
