Not Your Battle, but God's

To Jahaziel there came a definite realization of the omnipresence and omnipotence of God. The occasion was one on which Jehoshaphat, king of Judah, had allowed fear to enter his consciousness, when he was informed that the armies of the Moabites and the Ammonites were approaching against him in great numbers. It is stated in the account of this incident in II Chronicles: "Then upon Jahaziel the son of Zechariah, ... came the Spirit of the Lord in the midst of the congregation; and he said, Hearken ye, all Judah, and ye inhabitants of Jerusalem, and thou king Jehosphaphat, Thus saith the Lord unto you, Be not afraid nor dismayed by reason of this great multitude; for the battle is not your's but God's"

Today there are "wars and rumours of wars." Constant changes are being made in governmental policies. Mortal mind seems rampant. Fear frequently arises, and humble petitions are offered for God's protection, benevolence, and care in such extremity. Could one but bring to his thinking the words of Jahaziel, "The battle is not your's, but God's," he would be well on the road to a correction in thought, and by this correction to the solution of his problems.

This can be done when one spiritualizes his thought and comes into the realization of God, and of man as His spiritual image and likeness. This understanding of God and man bases the establishment of true brotherhood. For when we see man as spiritual reflection, idea, we shall not entertain in our own thinking hate, envy, jealousy, revenge, lust, or any such erroneous beliefs. Instead, we shall entertain thoughts of love, brotherly kindness, a desire to share, faith in good.
