Bromley and Kentish Times,

Your issue of February 5 contains a letter referring to the Christian Science lecture recently given in Lewisham.

Certain remarks about Mrs. Eddy need correction. Her healing did not come through Quimby's teaching. The healing which led her to the discovery of Christian Science came to her after a fall on the ice, in February, 1866, and was brought about through spiritual inspiration, the result of her study of the Bible.

Even in advanced years, Mrs. Eddy was alert, active, and capable. If space permitted I could produce abundant proofs of her extraordinary vigor at that date. This was attested not only by her friends and followers, but by impartial observers.

Your correspondent goes on to belittle the healings accomplished in Christian Science, but I would remind him that every Wednesday evening, in Christian Science churches throughout the world, thousands of men and women testify to the healing efficacy of Christian Science. The Christian Science weekly, monthly, and quarterly periodicals also contain authentic cases of remarkable cures. So impressive has this mass of testimony become that other Christian churches attempting attempting to heal through prayer, and thus be obedient to the command of Christ Jesus, "Heal the sick."
