"Your divine right"

When Jesus told those Jews who believed on him, "Ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free," they affirmed that they were "never in bondage to any man." Jesus replied: "Whosoever committeth sin is the servant of sin. And the servant abideth not in the house for ever: but the Son abideth ever. If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed."

It has since been proved by unnumbered followers of the Master that the words uttered by him on the occasion referred to are indeed true, and that the Christ, Truth, taught and demonstrated by Jesus of Nazareth, frees from mental, moral, and physical bondage. Mary Baker Eddy writes on page 226 of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" as follows: "Human codes, scholastic theology, material medicine and hygiene, fetter faith and spiritual understanding. Divine Science rends asunder these fetters, and man's birthright of sole allegiance to his Maker asserts itself."

When standing before Pilate as a prisoner, Jesus was the only really free man in the Praetorium. Paul, when he was being taken, a prisoner, to Rome, enjoyed greater freedom of thought and more spiritual perception than any of the others on board the ship. And to his spiritual discernment and understanding of the presence and power of God was due the deliverance of all on board, after the ship was wrecked.
