I should like to express the gratitude I feel for what Christian Science has done for me in the past twenty-four years. In 1912, a neighbor gave me some literature to read, and later lent me a copy of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. I found these very interesting at times; then I would lay them aside for weeks. I enjoyed talking to this neighbor about Christian Science and asked many questions, which she was always ready to answer.

In 1914, I submitted to an operation for blood poisoning, and the physician told my eldest daughter that she was looking on her mother for the last time. When I regained consciousness I was suffering great pain. I asked for a Christian Science treatment, which was lovingly given that evening; and the next morning I was free from pain. Later, when I was able to be up, my back pained me a great deal, and I again asked for treatment and was relieved at once. I saw the physician several times after this healing, and he always remarked that he had never expected me to live.

I do not think I realized what Christian Science had done for me at this time, as I did not give up medicine until about three years later. I was salivated, and for a week the doctor tried to heal the condition. I suffered so much I again turned to Christian Science, and was healed within a week. This was proof to me that medicine had no power to heal, and that God is the only power which "healeth all thy diseases."
