Christian Science has been my only physician for many...
Christian Science has been my only physician for many years. I became interested in this Science after being saved from undergoing a surgical operation. The healing has been permanent. At that time a practitioner was called, and during our conversation she told me that Christian Science teaches that God is Principle. I have always been grateful that she was led to tell me that. Through the years it has been a great help to me in the study of Christian Science. I am sure I could not have accepted any other definition of God at that time.
Before coming into Christian Science I used to be subject to severe headaches; these are now a thing of the past. Many inharmonious conditions have been met through the application of this truth. I am increasingly grateful for the understanding that wherever we go, God, Principle, is with us. One night, when I was traveling across the United States, I was troubled with a very sore throat. I knew that this must be overcome. A passage from the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, came to me (p. 393): "Have no fear that matter can ache, swell, and be inflamed as the result of a law of any kind." I held firmly to this thought, and the next morning I was free from that trouble. Again, I was entirely free from seasickness during the passage across the Atlantic from New York to England, because of understanding the truth contained in the ninety-third Psalm, "The Lord on high is mightier than the noise of many waters, yea, than the mighty waves of the sea."
Before I took up the study of Christian Science, the Bible meant no more to me than any other good book. Through the illumination of this Science, the Bible and its precious promises are now very dear to me. If for no other reason than this one alone, I have much for which to be grateful.
