I have known of Christian Science for some years, but I did not really understand it at all until a while ago. Yet I had some marvelous demonstrations, among them the almost instantaneous healing three years ago of a contagious organic trouble. The doctor had ordered most exacting and painful treatment, and had prescribed almost complete rest, but I asked a Christian Science practitioner for aid. She helped me, and I was healed as stated above. This enabled me to retain an exacting position which I then held.

I was impressed by this practically instantaneous healing, for from a medical point of view it was to be a matter of many months. Yet I continued to live in error and to turn to Science only when I was suffering, thinking of it on the whole as a good doctor and asking its help when I was physically in need of it.

For some time I had been having great financial difficulties. I had interests in two businesses. In one, where I was a shareholder and director, my associates had turned me away from day to day brutally and abusively and claimed a large sum of money from me when it was they who owed it to me. With no possibility of friendly settlement in sight a lawsuit was institued. The other business was a new venture and was not going at all well. I was on the verge of bankruptcy, because I did not have the necessary funds to meet my obligations.
