"That which hath been is now; and that which is to be...

"That which hath been is now; and that which is to be hath already been; and God requireth that which is past." This passage from Ecclesiastes points the way to the following statement.

In gratitude to Christian Science for the many blessings it has brought to me, I give this testimony, and I sincerely hope that my experience will help others who may have suffered as I did.

In the years following the crash of 1929, in common with many others, I saw the fruits of a lifetime of work endangered. Eventually, a fortune was swept away in the readjustment of values. I thought at the time that it was a cruel stroke of fate, and in my narrow, material way of looking at things felt that there was little left for which to live. Life seemed very black, and the future was clouded with thoughts of fear, want, and deprivation. All this took place when I was a mere beginner in the study of Christian Science.
