Christian Science is based absolutely upon the teachings...

Gleaner

Christian Science is based absolutely upon the teachings and practice of Christ Jesus, and at no time did he recommend the use of drugs for the cure of disease. On the contrary, throughout his entire healing ministry he proved that the right understanding of God, and of man's relation to Him, would lift humanity out of the mire of sin, misery, and disease.

In the Gospel according to Mark are found these words of Christ Jesus: "That which cometh out of the man, that defileth the man. For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders, thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lasciviousness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness: all these evil things come from within, and defile the man."

No one having the slightest understanding of Christian Science can entertain the belief that a material remedy taken internally or applied externally upon the physical body will purify or regenerate thought. Only the power of God, good, can do that. Christian Scientists rely unreservedly upon divine power for their healing, to the exclusion of all other means.
