Christian Science has been my panacea so many times that I desire to express my gratitude for it. I was not led to investigate the subject for physical healing, although at the time I was annoyed by an ailment which the doctor had said was a closed right lung. The doctor's medicine, which I was taking, contained a narcotic and a new prescription was required every ten days. I had been reading the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, for a few days when my medicine was exhausted and the prescription was renewed. I sat down to read the textbook, when the thought came, How can you read this book and still have a bottle of medicine on the shelf? I destroyed the medicine and, having taken my stand for Truth, the tubercular lung was healed. That was more than twenty years ago. Just a few months prior to my healing a sister had passed on with what the doctor named tuberculosis.

On a motor trip, when I was the driver, a sprained ankle was healed in a few hours. The accident had occurred in the late afternoon, and the return trip was to begin early the following morning. "Radical reliance on Truth" (Science and Health, p. 167) brought the comfort and assurance contained in Isaiah, "For I the Lord thy God will hold thy right hand, saying unto thee, Fear not; I will help thee." The healing was so complete that there was no discoloration or bad effect of any kind from the sprain. Some extra miles through two winding mountain passes added to the beauty of the return trip.

My gratitude to Mrs. Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, is not alone for physical healing but for her tenderness, compassion, and unselfed love that gave Christian Science to all mankind. I am grateful for membership in The Mother Church and in a branch church, for the privilege of teaching in the Sunday school, and for class instruction from a student of our revered Leader.
