I am grateful for the opportunity to share with others...

I am grateful for the opportunity to share with others some of the blessings I have received during the past years.

When I sought the help of a dermatologist for smallpox pits, over which I was greatly disturbed, to my surprise she asked me if I had heard of Christian Science. I told her I was already interested in what I had heard of it, but, as I had been severely rebuked when I mentioned the subject, I had become quiet, hiding these things in my heart. She then gave me my first Christian Science literature. About six years ago a childhood friend visited me and said, "What have you done to your smallpox pits?" This conversation made me realize that for years I had not been disturbed by them.

My first Christmas away from home was spent in a large midwestern city; at this time I purchased the Christian Science textbook, Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy. On my return home the following summer I was still afraid to say anything about Christian Science, and I still belonged to and worked in an orthodox church. Although I kept the textbook hidden, I read it a great deal.
