With great gratitude I wish to tell of some of the things that Christian Science has done for me. For many years I suffered from valvular disease and leakage of the heart, with periods of severe pain and consequent depression. Several doctors, some of them specialists, told me there was no cure, that they could only give me drugs to alleviated the pain. A knee ailment attacked me, threatening to make me lame, and then, hearing of Christian Science, I made some inquiries about it and was led to a practitioner. Very lovingly and patiently she explained the teachings of Christian Science and gave me treatment. In a few months I was healed. Now for more than eight years I have had complete freedom from heart trouble and can appreciate the joy of living.
I have also had minor healings, some with the help of a practitioner, for whose understanding and loyalty I cannot be sufficiently grateful, and some through my own understanding.
About three years ago I was losing a considerable amount of hair and there seemed to be no new growth. I did mental work, but only in a desultory way, and the condition became worse. Finally, I began to work in earnest, realizing that God's gifts are permanent. The words, "I know that, whatsoever God doeth, it shall be for ever: nothing can be put to it, nor any thing taken from it;" also, "Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning." I realized that God's love is ever imparted abundantly, and that He never in any way limits or reduces its blessings. These were healing thoughts, and very soon my hair was growing, and now I have a wonderful growth of new hair from one to four inches long, and I am exceedingly grateful.
