Unity

The importance of the true idea of unity in Christian Science cannot be overestimated. The word "unity" is derived from the Latin unus, meaning one; and dictionary definitions include: state of being one; oneness; concord; harmony; agreement. Christian Science teaches that man is the image, or idea, of God, and that each one has the privilege of recognizing this fact here and now. Each one can prove in his daily life and experience man's forever at-one-ment with his divine Principle, Love.

Christian Science reveals the fact that God is Mind, that there is but one Mind, and that all men have as their natural heritage this Mind. In the degree that each student of Christian Science learns to reflect the one Mind, in other words to be a right thinker, or a thinker of spiritual truth or good, will his human affairs and activities be harmonious and successful.

As recorded in the seventeenth chapter of John, Christ Jesus' prayer for all his brethren was in part "that they all may be one." Paul also wrote in his epistle to the Philippians, "Fulfil ye my joy, that ye be likeminded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind."
