Good News

The truth of God's perfect man has been revealed as good news in countless instances since the days of the early prophets. The glad tidings brought by the angelic visitor to the watchful shepherds more than nineteen centuries ago constitute the good news of all ages—the most important that has ever come to the world—for they heralded the birth of him who was to show humanity the way out of its false belief in sin, sickness, and death into the life of complete and uninterrupted harmony.

Christian Scientists gratefully acknowledge that the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," in which Mary Baker Eddy sets forth her discovery, clearly reveals the healing Principle, demostrated by Christ Jesus, so that all may use it. This revelation is the outstanding good news in the present age and for all ages. Through studying this textbook many persons have learned to recognize their true status as children of God, and this recognition has brought healing to themselves and others.

One definition of "news" is "recent intelligence." From a material standpoint this would imply a loss of news value when the intelligence ceased to be recent. An entirely different conclusion is reached through a spiritual interpretation of the term intelligence.
