We read in the Bible, "Seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you." All my life, from a tiny child, I was seeking to find God, for although I was a member of a Protestant church from the age of fourteen years and was active in church work, I really never could find God. About fifteen years ago, when I moved with my family to California, I prayed that I might find the true God our here; and so I did, for after I had been here a few months, Christian Science was presented to me. One of my family who had tried doctors, and had received no healing of a painful condition from which she had suffered for several months, was instantly healed by a Christian Science practitioner.
Shortly after I took up the study of Christian Science, all our worldly goods were swept away and I had to learn to demonstrate the true source of supply. I knew that class instruction was a privilege Mrs. Eddy had given to us, and I also knew it was obedience to avail ourselves of it. I joined the Christian Science church one year after taking up the study, and in three years had the privilege of class instruction.
I was able to see the unreality of death after my husband had passed on while we were away from home. I needed no help on this occasion, for I seemed to see so clearly that there was no death and no absence of Life. My first thought was, "How shall I stand as a Christian Scientist?" After my return home a day later, I took up my lifework and adjusted myself to living alone, for I knew there was no separation—no loss; and God so filled my life with love that I feel always joyful and happy. I have found Christian Science an ever-present help, and when rightly applied there is nothing it cannot heal.
