Overcoming Obstacles in Business
Jesus was the world's best business man, and he was engaged in his Father's business, the only real business. His demonstration of man's oneness with God and of the power of divine Love to overcome all phases of evil constituted his activity. Where material lack seemed to prevail he demonstrated spiritual abundance. That spiritual ideas alone are real he proved in the so-called miraculous draft of fishes, in the feeding of the five thousand and the four thousand with a few loaves, and the finding of the tax money in the fish's mouth. Moreover, his complete proofs of the supremacy of Spirit were made for the guidance of all mankind.
Present human business experience claims to be fraught with insurmountable obstacles. The individual who is a student of Christian Science is enabled to prove his spiritual superiority to these beliefs. When difficulties arise, fear attempts to govern the thinking of the business man. Under these circumstances freedom from mortal panic can be established by following the Master's example in turning to God. The more vicious and persistent the claims of evil, the more steadfast should be one's reliance upon divine Love.
Lack and limitation under various guises are prevalent problems. To meet these conditions the business man must realize that divine Love is substance, and is manifested in human experience through courage, co-operation, persistence, kindness, goodness, service—through expressing good. The individual who applies these qualities in his business contacts finds them returned to him in full measure. They bring him victory over trouble, a comforting understanding of Love's presence, an appreciation of his oneness with divine Love, and a supply of everything needful.
