In your esteemed newspaper for January 29 there appears a report of a public lecture in Orebro on the subject of medical superstition. As far as his mention of Christian Science is concerned, the lecturer is wrongly informed when he states that Christian Science uses "laying on of hands," and so forth, combined with prayer "to the spirits."

First of all, Christian Science does not use any material method of healing whatever, whether it be "laying on of hands" or anything else. And, secondly, its followers do not worship "the spirits," but the one Spirit, God, in accordance with the statement of the Bible that He must be worshiped "in spirit and in truth." In obedience to Jesus' expressed command, Christian Scientists heal the sick, not through blind belief, but through the understanding of the truth that makes free.
