Glorifying God in Daily Life

The sincere student of Christian Science finds ever-increasing opportunities for gratitude as he advances in the understanding of God and of man's relation to Him. Through the study of this Science, many righteous aspirations hitherto considered unattainable are now possible of attainment. In all ages Christians have echoed the prayer of the Psalmist, "Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O Lord, my strength, and my redeemer." Yet to accomplish this condition has often seemed impossible.

The solving of problems in daily experience in Christian Science is somewhat similar to the solution of those in mathematics. For instance, if one persists in the mistaken belief that two and two is five, the correct solution of an arithmetical problem is not attained. Does not this illustrate the nature of ignorant belief before Christian Science reveals the fact that error in all its forms is unreal? The inspired Word of the Bible reveals that God created everything that was made, "and, behold, it was very good," and "without him was not any thing made that was made." Thus, nothing is real but that which is created by God and known to God. Science teaches us to give up false beliefs of sin, sickness, fear, and death, and we do this as we understand their unreality.

Even though a Christian Scientist earnestly desires that his daily life may glorify God, is it not too frequently the case that wrong or false beliefs are entertained in his thoughts and appear in his experience? Can we consistently think the right and talk the wrong? Aggressive mental suggestion is ever active, perhaps in the home, the office, on the street, through the newspaper, the radio, the telephone. Are we glorifying God, or good, when we mentally accept or talk about errors which are not known to the divine Mind?
