The editorial, "The Redemption of the Body," in the October 15 issue of The Churchman states: "There is no question that Christian Science tends to value too highly purely physical health, and that there are many whose allegiance to it is based entirely on some cure that they believe it has effected for them."

The Gospels indicate that much of the ministry of Jesus was devoted to the healing of sickness. Always Christians have been urged to follow the example of the Master. Christian Science, in the healing of sickness, follows the teachings of Jesus.

Mary Baker Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, writes on this subject in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (pp. xi, 271): "The physical healing of Christian Science results now, as in Jesus' time, from the operation of divine Principle, before which sin and disease lose their reality in human consciousness and disappear as naturally and as necessarily as darkness gives place to light and sin to reformation." And again: "Those, who are willing to leave their nets or to cast them on the right side for Truth, have the opportunity now, as aforetime, to learn and to practise Christian healing. The Scriptures contain it. The spiritual import of the Word imparts this power."
