A Prayer for the Laborers

O God , may we so gentle beThat fearful ones, who in their needHave stretched out groping hands to Thee,May ne'er again so fearful be,Because Thy gentleness reflected, now they see.

God, so compassionate may we be,That weary ones in their despair,Turning in love's own way to Thee,May ne'er again so weary be,Because reflected, Thy compassion now they see.
