A Prayer for the Laborers

O God , may we so gentle be
That fearful ones, who in their need
Have stretched out groping hands to Thee,
May ne'er again so fearful be,
Because Thy gentleness reflected, now they see.

God, so compassionate may we be,
That weary ones in their despair,
Turning in love's own way to Thee,
May ne'er again so weary be,
Because reflected, Thy compassion now they see.

All human need is met in Thee:
This, God, may we be strong to show
Those seeking in humility,
That they Thy way divine can know,
Because Thy strength reflected, now they see.
