I heard of Christian Science at a time in my life when there seemed to be no more hope of happiness for me in this world. Everything seemed to have gone, health and family—all that ordinarily represents human happiness here on earth. I was slowly recovering from a severe illness. I suffered with terrible headaches which disappeared little by little with God's help, through the understanding which Christian Science gave me. One demonstration was particularly quick: my home was again on a firm foundation, and family joys returned anew to my household. I owe this transformation to God through the work of a devoted practitioner.
Various cause of suffering disappeared slowly, and I thank God for His patient kindness, for the fact that I had to be worthy of my healing, and that I had the time and the strength necessary to overcome trials, ans through His grace to emerge from them strengthened and invigorated.
Gradually I understood part of the Messianic work, thanks to the Lesson-Sermons in the Christian Science Quarterly, and I have been able to apply what I have grasped. My character has improved and the fears which poisoned my life have in part disappeared. Through the application of Christian Science I was able in a period of unemployment to find work. I was twice discharged and twice re-employed immediately. In this way I learned that the source of all work is in God, and that nothing belonging to His child can be taken way. My greatest happiness is in being able in my turn to help others, and thus to diminish the sum total of human suffering.
