The Importance of Faith

Faith in the omniaction of good is a spiritual quality to be utilized without hesitancy and without stint. It is unfluctuating and divinely multiplied until the hour of victory.

This quality was very dear to Jesus. He said to his disciples, "Have faith in God," and, "If ye have faith, and doubt not, . . . if ye shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; it shall be done." Here Jesus definitely warned against doubt.

During the storm on the lake, when their boat was filled with water, the terrified disciples wakened their Master with the cry, "Master, master, we perish." At his command the raging of wind and water ceased and calm reigned. Harmony having been restored to the situation, he then said to them, "Where is your faith?" Obviously it had been diverted from faith in God to fear of the storm and fear of perishing. The disciples' faith had been diverted from reality to unreality. But the faith of Christ Jesus abode in the everlasting calm and safety of Spirit.
