A Cup of Cold Water

I thank my God that I can give
With open hands and overflowing heart;
That in my consciousness a living spring
Of Spirit rises constantly
To meet my need, and so outpouring
To fill the cup of him who, sick and weary,
To me shall come for aid.
I thank my God that I can give.

I thank my God that I am in
My Father, as the branch is in the vine.
That, in myself, I nothing have or give,
And so can give unwearied,
Nor ever suffer loss. In Love's abundance
All need is met. In Him is no depletion.
My brother comes to Him and in Him finds
Himself the son of God, refreshed, complete!
