I have long desired to express my deep gratitude for Christian Science and the wonderful help and comfort I am experiencing in my daily life through the study and application of its teachings.

I was brought up in an orthodox church and had been taught to pray in the orthodox way, but it was not until many years later, when I left home and went abroad, that my prayers were answered. One very dear to me, to whom I owe deep gratitude, led me to take up the study of Christian Science through her loving example and steadfast adherence to Truth. By her consecrated work I was instantaneously freed from the use of alcohol, which I was indulging excessively, thereby causing much anxiety to my friends and relatives. This was the turning point in my life, and in spite of severe trials and a great sorrow, I have progressed steadily in the understanding and practice of Christian Science.

After attending a Sunday morning service I was completely healed of the desire for smoking, getting rid of two new and costly pipes and all the rest of the impedimenta of a smoker. I have also had many physical healings: of an abscess of the face, a poisoned leg, and severe colds; and many faults of character have been corrected.
