About ten years ago I accepted an invitation to attend a Christian Science lecture. I had for some time been looking for a religion that would solve my problems and satisfy my desire for a better understanding of God. In "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 1) Mrs. Eddy tells us, "Desire is prayer." At this lecture I gained a small realization of the truth about God and man in His image and likeness. I longed to know more, and immediately began to read the Christian Science textbook.
For some years I had been suffering from chronic gastritis and nervous troubles. During my reading I had no thought of gaining physical healing, for I was in search of spiritual understanding. As I continued to study I found my mental outlook being entirely changed, and at the end of three months I awoke to the fact that I no longer needed medicine, and was happier and healthier than I had ever been. Ever since that time Christian Science has met all my needs.
I am deeply grateful to Mrs. Eddy, whose purity and unselfed love enabled her to give to the world this final revelation of Truth. I should like to take this opportunity of expressing my gratitude to The Christian Science Board of Directors, and to The Christian Science Board of Lectureship for the consecrated work of the lecturers, also for The Christian Science Monitor and all the literature which is blessing mankind. For all that I owe to Christian Science, through membership in The Mother Church, activity in a branch church, and the unfoldment that class instruction has brought me, my gratitude is unbounded.—(Mrs.) Alice E. Cousins, Enfield, Middlesex, England.
