Through sincere study and faithful application of the truths contained in the Bible, as demonstrated by Christ Jesus, our Way-shower, and stated in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" and the other writings of our revered Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, I was shown the way of salvation from sin, sickness, and death.
About ten years ago, five doctors had declared that there was only one way for me to be well, and that was through an operation. I had then been in a hospital for five days, vomiting incessantly, and my muscles were drawn tense and rigid. While I was in this condition Christian Science help was asked for and lovingly given. My muscles relaxed, sleep and rest were manifested, and I was home in two weeks' time enjoying all God had done for me. This was but the first of many steps taken toward bringing harmony into my experience; erroneous traits of dispositon and habits, also diseases, including hay fever, nervous trouble, colds, stomach trouble, and an internal disorder of years' standing, all have been cleared away as I have put on the "new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness," and endeavored to live daily in obedience to the command in II Corinthians, "Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you."
I am grateful for the help of practitioners who have stood by in darkest hours; for membership in The Mother Church and a branch church, and for the privilege of serving in church activities, especially in the Sunday school; for having class instruction; and for being led into active service in Christian Science. I pray daily to love more and to let God's light lead me. In the words of the Psalmist, "O send out thy light and thy truth: let them lead me; let them bring me unto thy holy hill, and to thy tabernacles."—(Miss) Mary Scott Vittitoe, Los Angeles, California.
