For some time I have had the desire to testify to the healing power of Christian Science. For over eighteen years it has met every need in our home. We have been helped in every possible way, and it is with a deep and sincere sense of gratitude that I tell of the following experiences.
Several years ago a member of the family was thrown from his motor cycle. He was carried in badly bruised and with a great sense of shock. The Lesson-Sermon in the Christian Science Quarterly for that week was "God the Only Cause and Creator," revealing to us the wonderful truth that, as God is the only cause, there can be only one effect; what had not happened to God, therefore, had never happened at all, and there could be no effect from that which had never happened. We held steadfastly to this statement and tried to realize its truth, and all sense of shock vanished. The following morning the bruises also had vanished, and with the exception of two deep cuts, the healing was complete. Three days later he was again riding his motor cycle, without any fear. Within a week every mark had disappeared, and those who had witnessed the accident and the healing declared they had seen a miracle.
Another demonstration was the instantaneous healing of my nephew, aged eighteen years, of pneumonia. The doctor was called in by those not interested in Christian Science, and he gave us no hope. For three days the patient was in the valley of the shadow. At the end of the third day, as we persistently affirmed that there is only one Mind, he sank into a peaceful sleep. He slept for eight hours and awoke entirely healed. There was no lingering convalescence, for within a fortnight he was back at school. The wonderful sense of a divine presence with us I shall ever remember. We indeed stood on holy ground.
