Signs of the Times
[Rev. James Reid, D. D., in the British Weekly, London, England]
Though the vision "tarry, wait for it." We all need this counsel at times. Sometimes the way is clear. The truth shines. We can see what we must do. Then we must be obedient to the light we see. But what if there be no vision? There are times like that in the experience of us all. We cannot see the next step, let alone the road. We have lost the glow of convictions that once burned like a flame. We grow listless or disheartened. There is just one thing to do with a situation like that. It is to cease from our impatience, and quietly wait till the light returns. For the vision will come, as the prophet was told, and "will not tarry." ...
There is a divine solution for every human problem. God would show it to us if we would be quiet and wait till His light breaks. It means putting aside all the desires that clamor for our own way. It may be we want a solution that will save our pride. We seek a road that will not demand of us a different spirit. It may be God has some deeper thing to show us that we need to learn. But when His light comes it will make the road clear, and it will bring forth peace and deliverance. Only we must not be hasty, and rush through any door that seems to open. Though the vision "tarry, wait for it."
