Items of Interest

The new Publishing House of The Christian Science Publishing Society, to which the Field has so generously contributed, has been visited by a great many Christian Scientists from all parts of the globe. It was first opened to visitors in June, 1933, when the building was not fully completed or occupied. Beginning with June, and through November, 1933, more than thirteen thousand people made a tour of the building under the guidance of able representatives appointed to tell them of the outstanding features. In the year 1934 nearly twenty-eight thousand made like visits. Except for holidays, no weekday passes without a group gathering to inspect this building whence issue Mrs. Eddy's writings and the periodicals she established. These visitors number more than four times those who, in a like period in earlier years, were shown the processes of the Publishing Society in its former quarters at 107 Falmouth Street, where, it is well known, the Offices of The Mother Church are now operating. This renovated Administration Building also includes special features of interest to visitors.

The statement is often made that in remote corners of the world, and in the isles of the sea, Christian Science services are held, sometimes informally by a handful of Christian Scientists. Recently a letter from the island of Majorca, off the coast of Spain, was received by The Christian Science Board of Directors, in which it was said that during the past year Christian Science services have been held regularly. The attendance has increased, and reports of healings experienced have been given by members of the group at the Wednesday evening meetings. Individuals representing as many as ten nationalities have attended these meetings. The services are conducted in accordance with the order of services in the Manual for recognized branches of The Mother Church; and the Readers are members of The Mother Church.
