[Original testimony in German]
In 1917, during the World War, one of my knee joints...
In 1917, during the World War, one of my knee joints was severely wounded by hand grenades. From the time of this injury until my discharge from the military hospital, I was operated upon ten or twelve times. Then in September, 1918, I was dismissed from military service. In 1926 I had two additional operations and in 1930 two more. It seemed a peculiar thing that each recurrence of the trouble was during the months of August and September. In 1932, at the same time of year, the symptoms of the difficulty appeared again. I was in great despair and very much discouraged, and had already made preparations for another operation, resigned to my fate.
I had previously heard of Christian Science through a friend. I must admit that my attitude toward it was thoroughly skeptical and critical, so that I could not decide to turn to it for help. But on my way to the hospital the thought came to me to seek help from Christian Science. This thought carried the day, and I asked the hospital physician to postpone the operation. Then I got in touch with a Christian Science practitioner. What I had at first considered impossible, came true, for I was completely healed. Even after my first visit to the practitioner, the physical condition had so changed that it was no longer necessary for the doctors to operate; had the operation taken place, it would have been the fifteenth.
With the help of a practitioner I took my first steps in accepting and understanding Christian Science, and thereby I came, too, to understand my healing. My extreme despondency disappeared, and I became a free and happy individual again. All this was so wonderful to me that at first I could not grasp it at all. I thank God with all my heart for the healing. I am also grateful to Christian Science and its Discoverer and Founder, Mary Baker Eddy, and to the kind practitioner.—Jonny Klosius, Hamburg, Germany.
