I wish to testify to the many blessing which I have received...
I wish to testify to the many blessing which I have received through Christian Science. I first became interested in this Science in 1927, at which time my sister was seriously ill. Having tried everything in the way of materia medica, we at last turned to Science. I was grateful for the help and relief my sister received, although I did not understand Science sufficiently at this time to appreciate its significance.
It was not until 1929 that I became seriously interested therein. At this time I was studying voice in college. In my first lesson I learned that I was unable to sing with my chest tightly enclosed in a leather jacket. For twenty-five years I had been suffering from curvature of the spine pronounced by physicians as tuberculosis of the spine. For years I had been wearing a steel corset, but I was finally put in a cast and the steel corset was replaced with a leather jacket with steel braces. The physicians told me that I should always have to wear this jacket, that I could never expect the curvature to get better, but that possibly it would grow worse. It seemed as if this diagnosis was proving to be true. My back became weaker, and soon I could not be without the jacket, nor could I even sit up in bed without having pillows to prop me up.
In my extreme anxiety I was willing to try anything in order to become free that I might study voice. At once I asked for help from a Christian Science practitioner. With the first treatment I felt more strength in my spine. In a few weeks I discarded the jacket. In a year I noticed that the curvature was beginning to disappear. Now I have the pleasure of declaring that my spine is normal.
