Joy and gratitude for all the benefits received through...

Joy and gratitude for all the benefits received through Christian Science impel me to give this testimony. As a small child I had an attack of bronchial pneumonia, which the doctor said was very severe; and in the years that followed, it was necessary to take precautions to avoid its return. Nevertheless I had recurring attacks, and finally the doctors prescribed my removal to the country, for they said that the air in Paris was unfavorable to me. They claimed that I was threatened with tuberculosis.

It was at this time that my mother heard of Christian Science. Accordingly I returned to Paris and began the study of this Science, attended the Sunday and Wednesday services, and after a few weeks there were perceptible results. I was introduced to a practitioner who helped me very lovingly. From then on my nature changed, and in a few treatments I was entirely transformed; strength returned and I became joyous—a condition that I had not known before having Science.

My mother then wished me to enter on my apprenticeship. I had chosen quite a difficult trade, and our neighbors were amazed that my mother permitted my undertaking an occupation in which I was constantly in a very high temperature. I remained in that position for sixteen months and then was able to take another, through understanding that it is God who places me and that, as Mrs. Eddy tells us in Science and Health (p. 494), "Divine Love always has met and always will meet every human need." This position was exactly what I desired, including the salary offered.
