Christmas

[Original article in French]

The observance of Christmas is more than and annual holiday commemorating the birth of Jesus. Christmas signifies the appearing of the Redeemer and Saviour of mankind. It is the birth of the Christ in individual human consciousness, the light of Truth and Love, which comes to free and save.

Christmas will always be loved; it is the feast of light; and at this time it is pleasant to remember blessings received and to send a message of love into the whole world, recalling the words of the Psalmist, "Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits: who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases; who redeemeth thy life from destruction; who crowneth thee with lovingkindness and tender mercies; who satisfieth thy mouth with good things; so that thy youth is renewed like the eagle's."

The birth of Jesus brought to mankind a most precious gift, a treasure of inestimable value which none can truly appraise save he who accepts it; and this treasure is the revelation of Christ, Truth. Illimitable Truth is ever at hand, and all can make use of it without exhausting it. It is the light of the world which illumines the human thought darkened by the belief in material existence; and this light warms, blesses, heals all those who seek it, without distinction of birth, race, or party.
