The Lectures
Introductions to Lectures
Brooklyn, New York (First Church).
Lecturer: Rev. Irving C. Tomlinson; introduced by George T. Nelson, who said:—
When the prophet Isaiah extended his invitation, "Ho, every one that thirsteth, come ye to the waters, and he that hath no money; come ye, buy, wine eat; yea, come, buy wine and milk without money and without price," he made it clear that the spiritual waters from which he drew inspiration, understanding, and healing were free to all. In the same spirit and for the same reason, Christian Science today extends its loving invitation to all to partake freely of its many advantages. These advantages flow from the same spiritual source as did those waters to which Isaiah referred. The one and only true source of inspiration, understanding, and healing, Christian Science reveals to be divine Mind, God.
Through the understanding of God as the source of all reality, Christian Science heals the sick and reforms the sinner. On this point I am glad to bear grateful witness, for this Science has healed me of many false beliefs—physical, moral, and religious—when I have accepted the invitation to drink of the spiritual, health-giving waters of Truth.
