This matter of liberty of conscience and freedom of mind may assume the greatest importance, for I doubt whether it is possible to have complete spiritual liberty in a state where political and civic freedom are denied. ...

One of the difficulties today is that so many people are trying to divide men into water-tight groups. One reason why there is so little international brotherhood is because we are apt to think of men as superior animals, grouped into breeds like livestock; and that there is so little national brotherhood because we tend to segregate people into class-conscious groups.
