Many years ago I was seeking help for a member of my family who, after months of illness, had lain for twenty-four hours in an unconscious condition, from which, I was told, he never could be aroused. It was at this juncture that Christian Science was recommended, and an earnest student, lovingly responding to my call for help, although many miles away, sent this assuring message: "Treatment will begin at once." Shortly after twelve o'clock that night the patient awoke, sat up in bed, and conversed with those about him; then he arose and dressed himself, declaring that he was quite well. "A miracle!" we said, but afterward learned that instantaneous healing in Christian Science is not considered miraculous or supernatural, but divinely natural.

Through all the years that have followed, Christian Science has been the only healing factor in my experience. I have been healed of headaches, which began in my early school days and continued with frequency until permanently healed through Christian Science. A sprained ankle, which caused intense suffering, was healed in less than twenty-four hours, leaving no trace of swelling or discoloration; an ulcerated tooth which had caused my gums to become so swollen that I could not close my mouth, was, after two days of suffering, instantaneously healed by prayerful study of that week's Lesson-Sermon in the Christian Science Quarterly. This latter healing was so remarkable that it greatly impressed those about me who had not been interested in Christian Science up to that time. Another healing was that of an abscess in an ear, which for nearly three weeks caused a great deal of suffering. A fear that the deafness brought about by this condition might prove permanent was completely healed through a study of the Golden Text in our Lesson-Sermon that week: "For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind." Then turning to page 412 in Science and Health I read: "The power of Christian Science and divine Love is omnipotent. It is indeed adequate to unclasp the hold and to destroy disease, sin, and death." Instantly all pain ceased, swelling and inflammation subsided, and another proof was afforded that "disease will vanish into its native nothingness" (ibid., p. 365) through divine Love.

I am grateful to God that Christian Science was revealed to our Leader, and that she was enabled to send this healing, saving message around the world, that all may use it. I am grateful for membership in The Mother Church and in a branch church, and for the privilege of serving in the activities of the latter. I am especially grateful for the Journal and Sentinel, for the great good they are doing throughout the world; and for the splendid international daily newspaper, The Christian Science Monitor, with its far-reaching influence for good.
