Our New Publishing House
Christian scientists are more grateful each day for the completion of the new Publishing House, from which are sent forth the works of our beloved Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, and the periodicals of our movement. Majestic in structure, practical in arrangement, dignified in atmosphere, the new Publishing House supplies the facilities that are necessary for "more effectually promoting and extending the religion of Christian Science as taught by" our Leader, in accordance with the provisions set forth in the Deed of Trust constituting The Christian Science Publishing Society, to which she refers in Article XXV, Section 6, of the Church Manual.
Many were the gifts of gratitude and rejoicing which, during the building, poured into the treasury of The Mother Church from Christian Scientists in all parts of the world; gifts from the children who showed their love for Christian Science by rendering helpful service to others and contributing of their earnings to the building fund; gifts from those who had been healed of sin and disease, sorrow and distress, and had been awakened to active realization of freedom from bondage to a material sense of existence; gifts from those dwelling within prison walls, and yet glimpsing man's sinless and perfect status here and now; gifts from those who, on the watchtowers of Zion, had beheld the risen Christ and were devoting their lives to sharing with their fellow men the transcendent revelation of man's present and eternal at-one-ment with our Father-Mother God.
In "Miscellaneous Writings" (pp. 113, 114) our Leader tells us that "the systematized centres of Christian Science are life-giving fountains of truth. Our churches, The Christian Science Journal, and the Christian Science Quarterly, are prolific sources of spiritual power whose intellectual, moral, and spiritual animus is felt throughout the land. Our Publishing Society, and our Sunday Lessons, are of inestimable value to all seekers after Truth." She also assures us in the Manual (Art. III, Sect. 1) that on the Sunday Lesson "the prosperity of Christian Science largely depends."
