Individuality and Activity
Individuals faced with arguments of unemployment, lack, and general depression have offered to them in the teachings of Christian Science a wellspring of encouragement and practical help. Application of these teachings has lifted many a student from seeming idleness into abundant activity.
When human thought turns unreservedly to God and accepts divine Mind alone, it finds refuge from the fear engendered by personal and world-wide reports of economic disaster. Conscious spiritual oneness with divine Love brings an assurance of well-being, for it recognizes man's ceaseless activity as Love's expression. This realization depends upon no external circumstances; it is primal. Persons employed need it as much as those unemployed. In proportion to the realization of this truth of being right human activity unfolds.
Knowing God as the source of true activity and expressing this activity breaks the bonds engendered by imperfect social, political, and economic practices. Material systems have failed so generally that multitudes are reaching out for something more reliable. Christian Science points the one firm upward path. Those seeking to enter this path discover at the outset that demonstration must ever be individual. Theories to the effect that individuals are submerged in economic or social currents beyond their control have no divine sanction, and from such discouraging beliefs human consciousness has a never failing appeal to divine justice.
