Dawn

Have you not watched at dawn the radiant light
Change clouds of gray to brighter shade on shade?
Have you not heard bird anthems in the glade
And known approaching day, through sound and sight?
Have you not let a prayer go forth on wings
To bless a hungering one, to heal and woo
His weary thought again to all things new,
Then felt, within, the dawn of heaven this brings?
Dear friend, but symbols are the changing dawn
And early song. When God alone holds sway,
Unfolding forms of good appear whereon
The light of Love casts warm and tender ray
Till darkened thoughts of time and sense are gone,
And healing truth proclaims one glorious day.
