I gratefully testify to the healing truth of Christian Science
I gratefully testify to the healing truth of Christian Science. I was brought up in the Church of England. Afterwards I joined another church, but I felt I did not gain my spiritual food.
When my boy was two years old he developed glandular trouble. I tried every material means I possibly could for him for two years. He had gone through a course of injections with one doctor, and another doctor said the gland must be removed, as it was tubercular. While waiting in the hospital for the operation to take place I came in contact with a Christian Scientist, who gave me a Christian Science Sentinel. I read it, and thought how beautiful and how wonderful those lovely articles were. I was so taken up with it that I read it again and again; I felt it was exactly what I had been seeking. It was certainly the "Life that maketh all things new" to me. A fortnight later I had a telegram asking me to fetch my boy from the hospital, as he was getting better. I asked them why they had not operated, and if they thought an operation was not necessary. The doctor told me that a diseased gland could not get better without an operation, but that as the boy seemed to be improving they had decided not to operate then. I felt very much disheartened.
One day while I was dressing his neck, a voice seemed to say to me, God has healed your boy. I thought at once of the Sentinel; the lady who handed it to me had said, "Perhaps your boy won't need an operation." I located this lady and wrote to her asking if she had prayed for the boy. The answer came back, "It is your earnest desire for the truth which has resulted in healing."
